Yesterday was a GREAT day. I introduced classes to my Hour of Code Thinglink and got a Kinder class on Scratch Jr. I spent part of the latter part of my afternoon on Project GUTS and have started a notebook in Evernote aligning lesson ideas and applications to the TEKS. Click here for a glimpse in to this process. Last night I attended an Introduction to Raspberry Pi at the Ann Richards School. Not only did I meet incredible educators I also got inspired to learn more about the Raspberry Pi. This morning I have been inspired by my son as he showed his class the cruise ship he is building in Minecraft. Remember this every time you walk in to a classroom...

What Ghandi really said: “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.” I have decided to no longer wait to see what others will do. I have decided to change myself to affect the tendencies of the world.
Today, December 1st, I did not succumb to the countdown; the paper chain; the Advent calendar (at least not professionally).
Tomorrow will be day 2 of changing myself to see if the attitude of the world will change towards me. We go in to survival mode at this time of year: counting the days until we can get an extended break. The Eanes school calendar is a challenging one. Waiting until December 19th before we get more than 5 days off in a row is difficult for students, teachers and their parents/caregivers. Instead of giving in to the 'countdown' I have decided to make the next three weeks the most important three weeks of the year, both at home and at school.
How am I going to make this happen I hear you ask? Watch this space! |
