It's been a great start to the year in Kinder. Not only are teachers tackling the challenges of getting their little guys in to the school routine, they are embracing the use of technology in their classroom! Students have been given an iPad Orientation and some guidance on how to handle the iPad. Ask them about the iHug and the iFairy! Students have been given guidance on how to use apps such as Type Defender, Little Speller and Hungry Fish. These apps give them typing, writing and math practice! Way to go Kinder!

Kinder students using Bookabi to create stories. They're loving the ability to record their voices. These Kinders sure have an amazing stories to tell!
Students in Kinder are using Chirp and Popplet to show their understanding of the word Mammal. We sent a picture to the students using Chirp, they saved it to their camera roll and then switched to Popplet to insert their picture in to their Popple. We then brainstormed other mammals. Great work, Kindergarten.
Students in Ms. Linder's class are so proud of their ABC books. A nice full bookshelf ready to be shared with parents.
Thanks to the great brain of Ms. Simmons, our Kinders are creating ABC books using Scribblepress. They are taking photos using the camera feature, putting stickers on their pages and drawing their very own pictures. I'm excited to see the finished products!
Fourth Grade students have been working with Kindergarteners on ScribblePress to create booklets about 'How Plants Grow'. This has been such a joy to watch! Kindergartners at Forest Trail have been learning about Texas. They read books, sang songs and painted pictures. They looked at symbols and learned many important facts about Texas. As a part of this we used Skitch in the classroom to draw all about Texas. They chose the 'Draw on Map' feature to get an outline. They just started this project but already the results are impressive! Students read Gerald McBoing Boing and created their own version of the story. They explored Garageband on the Macbook Pros and then created an iMovie. The results are featured below! |
