A fellow teacher and I tend to talk most evenings. We share similar passions even though we are very different people. One of the things we talked about (related to my previous post) was about coding. This prompted up to look in to Code.org. This organization believes that 'every student in school should have the opportunity to code.' This was the start of a journey that has resulted in us both learning 'Scratch' this summer. We're excited about the opportunity (though he is doing a way better job at documenting than I, but I know that Forest Trail is going to reap the benefit of our shared expertise this Fall. If you're interested learning more about 'Scratch' here's a link to some of their videos. It's a truly wonderful program and I'm excited to see our students engage with this next year!
