Third Grade is an exciting place to be! Not only are students engaging in iPad activities, they have also started to make the famous Hot Air Balloons! Third Grade are all set up and beginning to use the app Notability to access documents on the Student Shared, annotate them, and share them with their teacher. We are also working on using Subtext for reading. Subtext is a powerful app that enables students to interact with a book, an article or a webpage. They can listen to it being read and make notes documenting their understanding. I have managed to get in to most of the second and third grade classes to roll out their iPads. After a brief introduction and reminder of the importance of digital responsibility we got to the task of setting up our iPads. We made sure they had their floating home button, we set up Gmail and iFiles and got to working on the app 'Skitch'.
Third grade are using the Quizlet app to help students learn vocabulary words for their Economics unit. Students can have the words read to them and can quiz themselves.
Third Graders are working on mastering fractions. Mrs. Brookshire's class are creating 'Fraction Books' using ScribblePress. They took pictures of a fraction; chirped it to their classmates; inserted the picture in to ScribblePress and wrote a fraction story.
Mrs. Brookshire is helping her students have even greater access to their assignments by posting then on her Weebly site, enabling them to access it on their iPads.
Third Graders in MS. Fromberg's class have been learning about Natural Resources as part of the Science curriculum. They researched their topic and used the app 'Explain Everything' to showcase their
Third Grade have been learning about our environment and how can take better care of it. They learned about the 3Rs and used iMovie to showcase their work. Because the students do no have access to iTunes we found the music on YouTube. One student played the music on their iPad while the other student recorded. I love it when the students come up with their own solutions to iProblems! Students in Ms. Fromberg's class used the camera roll app to record playing an Everyday Math game. They imported this footage in to iMovie. Enjoy!
